Nursing in public and babywearing go hand-in-hand. You can nurse in virtually any kind of carrier. I’ve assembled a collection of how-to videos to make your nursing in public experience even easier. It’s also great for around the house, most babies love to be worn an it can allow you to get some work done or look after older children.
Breastfeeding in a Stretchy Wrap
For many mothers, a stretchy wrap is the first kind of babywearing apparatus they will own. They are very soft and very easy to maneuver for wearing a newborn, because they have a lot of give. Breastfeeding them in the stretchy wrap is very similar to breastfeeding babies in woven wraps. Many of the same holds and carries will work, but with a little extra tweaking to account for the stretchier fabric.
I don’t recommend using a stretchy wrap for a baby that weighs more than 15lbs. The stretchy fabric has a lot of give and it can really do a number on your back.
I’ve included some stretchy wrap videos since they are a little different from the woven.
